Ayora
The valey of villages consist of Confrentes, Teresa de Confrentes ,Jalance,Jarafuel and Ayora which is the largest with 5,500 inhabitiants. You enter Ayora through small cornfields and tall crops of maize and the first thing you see is the castle keeping a watchful eye over the small low level town.
Nearby Almansa is a larger town with an impressive castle and more variety of shops which is 10 minutes away or the nearest city being Albacete which is 40 minutes away.
Ayora town is only a 10 minute walk from the Villa or 2 minutes in the car. The main square (above) has bars and restaurants and come 9pm the locals come out and the atmosphere is electric !
There are plently of bars and restaurants dotted everywhere and not at inflated tourist prices. The bars range from relaxing to energetic with discos on till 6am .In most bars and restaurants you will find they speak some English some of them have English owners, just practice how to order your drinks in Spanish just in case. If you need some extra money then there are plenty of cash machines, travellers cheques are not so easy to cash. There is an Internet cafe and just recently an Indian takeaway has opened.
